I bought a bunch of BS170 mosfets recently and I am trying to determine whether or not they contain an inverse diode. Does anyone know how to check this? I found a datasheet on the web for the BS170 that affirms this but I am not sure whether or not it is different from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Every BS170 mosfet has a reverse body diode due the construction of the device. It is not added as a separate component inside the mosfet.

Let's be clearer - all modern MOSFETs of any stripe whatsoever have an integral body diode as a result of the way the substrate must be isolated from the drain and channel.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks for the reply guys. The project I am working on is the AMZ Mosfet Booster. Would this mean that I could remove the zener diode as mentioned in the article?
Cheers.
