I was experimenting with changing the opamp, and noticed I forgot to solder one side of C6 (.068uf, GGG layout). So when I "fixed" it I didn't like it. I found that leaving C6 out gave me more output, and seemed to help make it less fizzy.

What exactly does C6 do? All 3 tonestacks still work, though it seems like the mid only cuts below 50% doesn't boost much without it, but its worth it to me for the sound improvement.

Anyway I will probably stick a switch in there, but I would love to know what that does.

I learned just a little about tonestacks from playing with the Duncan TSC, but this one seems different, so I can't tell what each part is doing?

Thoughts?

Capacitors block DC, and provide increasing resistance to lower frequencies.
I would lift and insert it to tell the difference, then study the schematic to see why what changes it makes are made.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

An interesting experiment would be to put in the normal C6 and a 10pF cap, then to switch between them. The 10pF cap will simulate c6 not being there, but also not messing up the DC bias.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
