Multiturn / Single Turn Pot?

Allow me to ask a noob question, what is Multiturn Pot?
What is the operational different compare to 16mm ALPHA POT that we commonly used in all projects?

The shaft on an ordinary pot moves over a 270 deg arc approximately.
A multiturn pot goes all the way around, then around again and so on - maybe 5 times, maybe, 10, 25 or whatever.
Nearly all multiturn pots are little trimpots, so you can adjust something very accurately.
But in old synthesisers, you sometimes get large (very expensive) ones, with special dials so you can see how many times you have gone around & where you are.
