Not satisfied with Hearthrob Tremolo!

Hi everyone,
Can anyone help me with this? Finished this a while ago now but only just really got the chance to play on it! this is the layout i used;



First problem is the volume of the output! Nowhere near loud enough. I made a few sub's, maybe these are the problem?

R9 (5K8) was subbed for a 5K6, The transistors i had to use are 2N5088's, For C3 i used a poly cap, And thats it. Everything else is to the layout.

If its a common problem, then is there any volume pot mods?

Second is the switch pops! I read in another thread that 1M resistors on the in and out to ground would sooth the popping, but with me being a newb, I'm i bit reluctent to add bits that aren't on the layout, especially when it works! well, kind of! lol!
So, for the pulldown resistors, do's this look right?

Mmm it shouldn't be a problem - wasn't for me. you could try replacing R1 and R2 with a 100k volume pot. if that doesn't give you the right volume then I'm thinking there is something wrong. I'm not exactly a great pedal builder but my first heart throb (from this layout) didn't work and after unsuccesfully debugging I rebuilt it from scratch. I'm glad I did. I love it.

Will try that, but would a pot connected to output and then the output from the pot do?
Don't you even get the switch pops? I like this effect too, just the right amount of everything, except volume!
I'll have a tincker with it anyway, If nothing happens i will probably start again aswell, cool effect!
