hello,

has anyone a schematic of a phaser similar with boss ph-3 (having fall/rise/step mods)?

thx a lot!

there is a similar thread going that I started a few days ago have a look ;)

There is a stairstep LFO that sounds great with phasers at geofex.com that uses shift registers.  You could make it have more options (# of steps in the sequence) than the PH3, which would be nice.

A simple 8 step sequencer would be a great way to go about getting lots of options for step sounds, like the rare prophecy sound pedal.

The rise/fall I've heard referred to as "barberpole phasing" won't be possible with a conventional analog phaser I don't think.  I think you get that with several independant notch filters being swept in the same direction, and when one gets to the bottom it would fade out, and then fade in it the top and make its way down again.  If it could be it would be a more complex modular synthesizer type circuit, I would guess.  One of those effects that is much more feasable in digital.

One of the ways to get something like Barberpole phasing is with quadrature ramp generators.  There is an old scanned article from POLYPHONY about this at my site: http://hammer.ampage.org/files/quad-shep.pdf
