Tonestack location - does it make a difference?

I built an MK-II/Fuzz Face switchable Fuzz. Its too loud, so i added a passive Big Muff tonestack which gives me a bit of control over the tone and lowers the output a bit.
Does it matter weather i place the tonestack After the 47k volume pot, or before it?
Right now i have it placed after the volume pot.
I have the feeling the change in tone possible is very subtle, but it DOES lower the volume a abit, so it was worth putting in.

The tonestack helped a little, but it didnt solve my problem. Theres still too much volume gain.
Could it be a problem of the gain pot? Right now its a 47k B pot.
Im not sure abou this one: does putting a resistor from output to ground lower my gain?
Messing with the transistor stages is not an option, because i tuned the transistor voltages to achieve the wanted tone.

What you want to do is put the tone control just before the volume control.
You want a 50K-A (log taper) pot as the linear pot you have will be loud very soon in the pots rotation.
The B taper pot you have will be at 25% where the log taper on will be at 50% of it's rotation with a smoother volume ramp up.
Make sense?

Makes sense. Ill try out the different pot and location of the tone control.
