Expression pedal jack question

I modded my DIY built Phase 90 with an expression pedal jack and a switch to switch between the jack and the pot and am using it with my own made PEEP expression pedal.  I used a plastic body jack on both the pedal and the PEEP and it works fine, however, when I have it switched over to the pot, I am getting RF interference (picking up a local radio station). When it is in expression mode, no RF. I only wired to the tip and ring on both jacks. Do I need to run a ground from the sleeve since it is plastic to get rid of the RF?

Try it using an alligator clip and see if that works. I find when I get RF it is usually a ground issue.

Update: Ok, this fixed it. I just added a ground wire from the sleeve of the exp. jack to the sleeve of the input jack, and now no more radio stations. I kind of figured it would, but wanted to check before I opened the thing up and messed around again. It sounds great now with the PEEP. Nice to have some expression control without taking up a ton of room on the pedalboard.
