repainting wah enclosure

I recently got a used wah that is full of scrapes in the paint. I was wondering what the best method is for retouching these enclosures the same black coat? Would tremclad be okay?

There's a photoessay somewhere online showing how to strip the paint off a wah shell but I can't remember where it was. Not really sure how you would just touch up paint chipped parts though. You have tap the rod out of it to separate the treadle from the base if you refinish the hole thing.
