Please forgive (and provide guidance) for any glaring ignorance.  This is my second 'non pcb kit' build.

Schematic

All caps, resistors, pots, op-amp, transistor, and switches are per the schematic.  Using an 8 ohm 12" speaker.  Built on perf board.

when I plug my guitar in, I get nothing.  When I plug into my delta 44 sound card, which should have a much hotter signal, I get de-amplification.  I started by bypassing the entire circuit.  Then I began moving backwards through it.  I got a slightly weaker signal until I got to the front side of C2.  There the signal suddenly became very faint.  I tested for continuity through that area with my ohm meter.  Looked OK.

Here are some values that I got with just a DC power source (9.14v)

transistor
Drain - 9.14
Source - 8.99
Gate - 6.08

op amp
1 - 8.73
2 - 8.91
3 - 9.14
4 - 8.98
5 - 8.91
6 - 9.14
7 - 8.72
8 - 8.73

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks!

I just changed the transistor and the op amp.  Did not change the problem.... Hmmm...

Are u using a pcb or perfing?  Either way pins 3 and 4 should be 0V (gnd)  check that you haven't inadvertantly got any solder bridges or short circuits anywhere and you should find the problem :)
