LS-2 stopped working.

Hello.  I recently got an LS-2 to blend some distortion in with my bass.  My girlfriend borrowed my boss adaptor so I stupidly used a dunlop 18v to power it.  I plugged the adaptor into my boss tuner, and then powered the LS-2 from a daisy chain.  The tuner still works fine but the LS-2 quit.  The lights still work, and the switch still works but there is only static and noise when switched on or in bypass.  No signal gets through.  Any ideas on what the problem might be?  I opened it up and everything I could see looked fine.  Would a blown capacitor actually look blown?  Any help would be appreciated!  It's a really useful pedal and I want to get it back in my rig!  Thanks!

My first guess in the case of overvoltage would have been that you blew a power supply protection diode, but if the lights work, that is not the case.  If there are IC's in there, they may have blown, so check those out.

Ok, thanks man.  Would it actually look blown, or should I just swap it out to test?

It wouldn't necessarily look blown.

Hi, you can check if virtual ground caps are ok. They are quite big, say 100 uF, and often rated for only 6,3V. They work at half the dc in, so they might have fallen, like in a used MT2 that I bought. In that case they were killed by the extended use of an unregulated 9V 2A power supply which putted out 15V with the small load of the MT2...If everything is ok, you should measure 4,5V at their terminals, if not something near ground.
They are connected as filters at the half of a resistor combo, often 10k/10k. Remember that you should search for one or two caps.
If uncertain, take off tha cap and then measure the volts in the middle of the combo to see if it's correct.

Good luck!
