A Cool opamp fuzz with a tube worklike. Use it to push tube amps and you'll see what I talking about.
Sounds great with Led clipping.

Here is the layout:

I use it to push my LC30. A little drive, treble and some volume boost.
Adding silicon diodes (2 or 3 in series)  and a switch is good mod.
I prefer a BF245 B or C, or MPF102 as the output fet, and a poly cap at the output.

I apreciate a lot this little wonder. One of my first distortion DIY projects.
Those suggested mod's are very interesting and worth the effort.
Simple to build and very good sounding circuit.
Pagan and happy!

I like that!! :)

I'll make some mods to use it in my bass, sounds great on bass guitar too.

+1
like this one
lf351 op amp
red led's 3mm low consumption
22pF in the feedback loop
Change the 0.22 for 0.47 for more low end
bf 245c sound great in this unit.
Very good crunch in my bassman head

The red fuzz is a great "little" project. I like it more with silicon diodes than leds but it sounds very good in both configurations.
I also made a modded version using a dual op amp replacing the jfet buffer with the second half of a jrc4558.

I plan to change the tone pot to 50k linear or less, since I use just a small portion of the original 100k.

i forgot to mention that i've eliminated the tone pot adjusting capacitors to my taste. the gain pot was also changed to a 500k linear and the res swapped from 10k to 56k, this give me a more balanced amount of distortion.

The only two projects I liked the results using the "C" version of BF 245 FET was this one and a Crunch Drive based on 4049 CMOS CI.
Pagan and happy!

Robin Tomtlund's designed a really nice OD/Fuzz that dosen't get the recognition it deserves.  It seems to get "rediscovered" every now and then.

I built one of these a few years ago from the Layout and info on GGG.  Only built it because I had extra space on a board I was going to etch.  I was very pleasantly surprised a really nice little build, that I always keep going back to... Built it stock, I tend to use it more with silicon diodes rather than LEDs, but that is a matter of personal preference.
