I have built probably 4 different versions of the Dod-250 and 1 of the Yjm 308. However, recently i had thought about  buying an Analogman Dod-250 w grey specs. Can I expect to notice a difference between them as far as the analogman and the Diy type. I wouldnt think so..But...

I doubt it.

It has no "magic" parts of even hard to find "regular" parts :)

I've played a vintage MXR D+ for a while and the sounds are indeed clone-able. I know it's not a DOD, but they are close relatives. So, to sum it all up, I suggest taking this one on as a project and tuning it to perfection with you own rig and ears.

I'm with Phorhas on this. See that resistor and cap hanging off the back of the gain control, you can tune those for max gain and frequency response. You can change the clippers, you can change the cap to ground on the output and for maximal mojo you can play with the resistors on the bias supply to starve the chip. Oh, and you can experiment with the chip. This is an incredibly flexible little building block of pedalry.

Funny, isn't it.  We know how much it would cost us to put one together, and we see what the price is as set by people we respect, so we figure that something "magical" has to account for the difference in price/cost.  And often there is simply no magic to speak of, just plain old boring banal overhead and a quality-controlled consistent build.  If you have no time and/or chops (and trust me, there are plenty of real nice interested folks out there with neither who will insist on buying a finished pedal no matter how much I try and persuade them it's easy to learn), the difference in cost between a DIY version and paying someone else's overhead for a finished, guaranteed to work right out of the box pedal is worth it for them.

3pdt switch $5, metal enclosure $4, three 3904 transistors $0.25, the ability to tweak a circuit until you have personalized it to your own tastes PRICELE$$ ;)

My GF bought one 308 for me as a bday present last november...I love it, but as I see it's not so difficult to clone, I will be doing a clone in some days...Still I modified mine (3pdt+led)
