A Modern (silent) Booster that does the Rangemaster/Java Boost thing?

I have a problem.....

I love the sound of my Java Boost. I also have a pedalboard that I don't want to have the hassle of using batteries in and when it uses a power supply it is as noisy as hell. So I built a Mini Booster, which is a great booster in it's own right and silent ( I did the full range/ mid & treble/treble switch of the Java Boost with a tone/presence  control which also works well on it) but it is a a different sound and I have been unable to tweak it to have the "old school, grainy" sound of a Rangemaster/Java Boost. The Java Boost also has more lower mids to my ears. I was therefore wondering if anyone had built a booster that approximated the sound of a Rangemaster/Java Boost but was fairly silent using a power supply (I have a Carl Martin Big John), or even better, if they have been able to tweak the Mini Booster to do a similar job?

Having said that, If the Mini Booster can be tweaked, I would probably build another as it is great voice in it's own right in it's standard build.

Thanks in advance

If the Java doesnt already have it, you can add (from the power supply) a large (47u - 100u) cap tp ground and a 100 ohm resistor in series and that will usually quiet things down...thats IF its the power supply. Since the Java is germanium, it may just be a noisy transistor. Have you emailed Robert Keeley about the problem ? He might help you out....

In fairness to Robert, the manual states that noise will occur if using a power supply rather than a battery, so I always assumed this was part of the design (being from before the time of pedalboards and power supplies as we currently know them) along with posts that I have read on this forum stating that a Rangemaster will always be noisy. I therefore just accepted it as being the case. Is this an incorrect assumption?

Thanks for your recommendations and I will try them as if it remedies the situation, I will be a happy bunny. :)

Yes to maybe, yes if Rangemaster with about 7 other effects is used...
  I took pretty good notes.
even with 1spot adapter [lowest noise of all I know of] daisy chaining the RM with other effects [mostly wah + 1 other..most any other] made a difference between that and using a battery on the RM.
IOW it was the RM, but the RM + wah, +1 or two other effects, and even then sometimes worse than others...go figure..I got tired of playing with all that and built a Spyder.
