Please help me w/ buying capacitors...

Srsly,

I already have a decent selection, but I really don't know what I need in terms of  non-polar vs. bi-polar I should get and then when do I use metal film vs. poly film etc. Right now  I only have bi-polar electrolytics, but I figure I should get some non-polar since they've come in kits I've gotten (BYOC, etc).

What's the general rule of thumb here?  I've searched, but I just keep getting confused.  I'm getting my stuff mostly from Mouser and Small Bear.  I've perused Futurelec, and I have Digikey's catalog.  So any ideas as to where to get the stuff is also appreciated.

I just ordered one of each of the value packs from Futurlec.  Can't go wrong for 4-5 bucks.

I've got plenty of electro's and greencaps, but I'm still on the lookout for a decent mixed bag of metal film caps.
