So I've never actually used on of those boomerang loop boards but I've noticed something interesting. There is a control that looks like some sort of "roller pot". I was wondering if anybody knew where to get a hold of something like this? Seems like it would be an interesting alternative to an expression pedal in certain applications

roller pots are just regular pots with roller knobs and a bracket to mount them.

just have a look at a jaguar, same deal....the pots in my jag are just standard 16mm solid shaft pots.

Interesting. So I guess a more appropriate question would be where to find roller knobs and brackets?

I love those roller knobs!  Those and the old Maestro pedals with the crazy foot-rollable knobs.

I think you'd want to use a serious CTS pot with a big steel shaft.  Make the bracket after you have the pot and the knob (which you might have to fashion as well).  I think you could make one out of solid ABS rod.  A lathe would be best to center the 1/4" hole, but with some good measuring  you could just center tap it.  Drill a couple holes for set screws, and file the side of the pot shaft were they go, so that the knob doesn't slip on the shaft.

I think if you had a strurdy bracket and a beefy steel pot, it could withstand a reasonable amount of weight...
