At the moment i dont have a status led which shows me on/off status of the effect, only the blinking led that shows the settings.
Question: Could i use a 3pdt and simply use the extra terminal (Im only using 2pdt at the moment) to make/break one connection of the blinking led? this way i would have it all combined in one led.

I believe that's how I did it on my Lune (can't remember, it was almost a year ago). So yes, it is possible to have one LED. However, I get a pretty loud pop when I hit the stomp switch to turn the effect on, and I haven't had time to debug it. I always figured it had something to do with the way I had wired up the LED. Hey, gimme a break, it was only my second build!  :icon_biggrin:

ok ill try that out as soon as i get that 3pdt switch. I have so far never experienced any pop problems, have everything wired up with dpdt switches, no status led. Ill see what this does for me. Thanks.

I was gonna post this exact thread when my parts arrived. Seems like you would just hook up the LED the same way, but maybe there's more to it.

Keep us updated if you can.

I helped a friend build one and we wired the LED to the switch ...

... as far as I know, it works fine.  I know he gigs with it so I assume it works OK.  I'll ask him when I see him.

i will definately keep you posted, since this is an interesting matter for me. Right now im thinking if it would be possible to do this using a dpdt switch, because my fingers are itching and i dont want to wait for thath 3pdt... aaaah  ;D

i built a circuit very similar and actually got the extra pole on the 3pdt to turn off the whole LFO (light blinking) part of the circuit. that way the fading light is the status light and shows the rate at the same time. i didn't get any pop with a 470uf cap on the circuit power.

definitely do what you are thinking about. IF you do get pop, then use the search feature to try to find a cure as it's something that gets talked about over and over and over...

The precise thread escapes me now, but there was a commercial modulation pedal I commented on that used this exact same approach.  One set of stompswitch contacts connected either the LED or another point in the circuit to ground (center common contact was the ground contact), such that in bypass mode the LED stopped blinking and a certain signal path was rerouted or shunted.

i failed to mention that i don't like the idea of the LFO running in bypass mode since there's potential for a bit of clicking bleeding into the signal.

I´ve used a bicolor (red/green) LED for the blinking rate / status. Using just a DPDT, nontruebypass (togling only the outouts) I did this status/blinking indicator. Green blinking in bypass mode and red blinking with the circuit engaged. No pop´s and clicks or lfo bleedind audible. The LED has three terminals, the mid is the common one. If you feed both colors, the red prvails.
