i'm hoping to get some help debugging my CE-2 clone.  I'm using a PCB I etched myself from the tonepad layout.  I already checked for solder shorts at least ten times.  heres a link to the .pdf of the schematic and layout:

http://www.tonepad.com/getFileInfo.asp?id=101

I did the vibrato mod as well as the depth switch on mine.  The vibrato mod has actually been quite helpful with debugging since it takes the dry signal out of the output.

I couldn't find the tl022 so I substituted for the TL072.  Everything else is as specified +/- 10%.  I'm powering the circuit with an EHX adapater that came with my Holy Grail.  It puts out roughly 9.6V

My problem is that the processed signal is so quiet its almost not there, especially compared to the dry signal, as I can tell by using the vibrato mod.  Also, the pedal is slightly quieter in general when compared to the bypassed signal.  I already checked my voltages against one posted by andres, I believe and things came up somewhat close.  The only real discrepancy is in the transistors as a few of the voltages are up to a volt lower than the ones posted on the forum.  I noticed that most of these voltages are biased by the trim pot but even with a lot of turns I can only go up to the values shown.  I double checked the biasing resistors R27 and R28 that form the voltage divider with the trim pot and they're 4.7k as specified.

Thanks for reading, hope to hear responses soon!

  :( ...

..well, I had the same problem when building mine CE2.
I used 2N3904. Then, when I swaped them with BC549, I was jumping all over my room  :D !!!
Clean (and very audible) chorus all around!

I didn't measure any voltages so I can't help you with that.

why didn't you use the 2n5088's like it specifies?

I've got this one on my bench not working as well.  I too subbed a tl072; can anyone vouch if this opamp will work in this build?

i'm pretty sure they said that its ok to use the tl072 on the tonepad build reports as well as previous ce-2 posts on this forum.

I can't get (find) the 2n5088's in my country.... so I usually use BC549,BC550,2N3904...etc, for NPN's.
As for the opamp, I used NE5532. TL072 worked as well, but the stayed with the NE5532.

did your guys' pedals have a volume reduction even with the dry signal?
