Hi,

I have a recording unit that has a footswitch input for punching record in and out.  or otherwise to turn record on and off.

this is the footswitch:

people have said you can just get a simple switch from radioshack or im guessing any spst switch to use as a switch.

so how would I wire something like this?
i was assuming I would just wire the 1/4" tip to one lug on the switch and the the sleeve to a ground.
is that all I would need to do?

thanks alot

Seems to me like that's the way to go, if you look at the switch the jack on the other end of the wire is mono, which means there are only '2 wires' involved, so I wouldn't know how else to wire it up ;)
Good luck!

Hmm, perhaps what you need is a momentary switch instead of a 'permanent' switch, my TC Electronic M300 didn't switch either when I wired it with a 'normal' switch. What you might try to do is plug in a normal instrument cable into the switch out jack and try to short the tip and sleeve together for a very short moment and see what that does? It's how I figured out I needed a momentary one ... Hope that helps?

So just touch the tip and sleeve together with one wire?
