Amp Channel Switching Pedal

Been lurking here for a week or so. Getting ready to take the plunge! :)

I've got an old crate GX212 for an amp. Sounds ok for what it is lol. Some time ago I lost the channel selector footswitch.
I'd like to make a new one. The amp has a Channel/Gain Switch and a Reverb Switch. I'm not 100% sure how they work though.

Am I correct in thinking that I just need to wire up a switch to change from ground - tip and ground - sleeve? And I can use the same
switches that you'd use in a regular sompbox?

I'll be doing this and the beginner booster pedal at the same time.  In a few weeks I'll be starting a fire fly too. I can't wait!

Thanks for any help

First get a copy of the schematic and examine the channel switching part.

Could be something simple like a single toggle, in which case you could probably just wire up a stomp switch with a TRS jack. Or it could involve controlling power to a relay or something like that in which case the wiring might be a little more complicated. Check out the schem first, but yeah it should be easy for you!

sounds like 2 switches, probably the simple type.
It probably looked like it's a sleeve assigned to Gnd. then when the tip is connected to the sleeve/gnd. it activates...same with the ring..when switch connects ring and sleeve it activates.
do you remember what it looked like?
And I'm only beginning to 1/2 assume that you can't go wrong wiring up a TRS cable to a box which connects [and disconnects] the R/S and T/s...
Only because I think plenty of people have tried it and the designers figured they would and designed the 'other' switching scheme to be non-compatible for switching, yet non-destructive when mis-wired with the 'other-other' switching scheme [the one described first.
so probably all it is is connnect something to gnd and it switches inside the amp [probalby the switching system inside the amp works...

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

It seems to be the basic TRS for the clean/gain. And a mono for the reverb. If I remember right the foot switch had 3 switches. One for to switch from clean to Dirty, one for the Gain boost, and another for the reverb. Think I have an understanding of how to do it now. Played around with some old cables. Still not 100% sure how to wire it. I'll see if I can find the schematic.

Thanks for the help.

For what it's worth, I have a GFX212 (similar to yours I think) and it has a 2 button footswitch using a TRS cable.  Each switch is a latching spst that either shorts the tip/ring to ground or doesn't.  I recently replaced one of the switches that went bad, and it works now.   But definitely check with a schematic if you can.  Your amp may be entirely different.

Sometimes they use diodes in the footswitch to achieve different voltage levels for switching more than 2 conditions, but you'll most likely get away with 2 simple footswithces.
You won't do any damage to it anyway, I've fixed a ton of these things.

It's a two cable jobie. One cable seems to be TRS. Wich switches between clean and distortion..and if on the distortion channel engages the Boost. Other cable is for turning on reverb. Seems pretty simple. I can't find a schematic though. Soon as a can get some parts I'll see what I can do.

Thanks again for the help.
