Power a sustainer from pedalboard?

So I'm thinking about putting a Fernandes sustainer in my guitar. It's a hollow body so the logistics are already going to be a serious pain. One thing I'm not to keen on though is sucking up 9v battery's real quick. So I was wondering...

Is it possible to use a stereo (TRS) cable and just run the 9v supply from my pedalboard? It seems like it would be pretty easy. I only wonder if it hasn't already been done because of noise problems.

Any idea's?

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

Hey dave thanks. I'm not looking for a preamp so much, just a way to get 9v from my pedalboard to my guitar. In my case I'd like to use it to power a sustainer, but I guess it could be used to power anything that's inside a guitar.

So on a mono cable, the signal runs through the tip, and ground through the sleeve. So If I had a nine volt supply on my board for instance, could I hook the + up to the ring and the - up to the sleeve on that end? Then use a stereo jack in my guitar and get my 9v supply from that? Seems like a much easier way than sucking down 9v batteries.
