Hey DIYers,

I need some help with a buffer I put together using a schem from AMZ. It's a simple OpAmp version
parts - 1) 0.1uF, 2)1M, 1) 10uF and a IC TL071 (actually a TL081)

I'm not sure that I wired everything correctly, and/or the TL081CP is not the commercial version of the industrial TL071.
Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps someone could attach/post a picture of correct wiring diagram for this buffer.
BTW the drawing below shows the board from the top. The soldering is on the underside. (might I have the IC pin configuration backwards?) Does the pin numbering (in the bottom of the diagram) reflect the top or the underside of the IC?

Your layout looks fine and is correct for a TL081 or a TL071. In fact it is correct for any single opamp as they all have the same pin configuration.
The pin numbering on you layout is correct if viewed from the top.

If you need any more information have a look at the General Guitar Gadgets buffer, which is the same as what you've built.

Thanks for replying so quickly.
So I've built the circuit using breadboard-PTP and it doen't quite work.
I'll have to review my connections yet again.
I'm using it between a tuner out on an Ernie ball vol pedal and a Korg DT4 (the DT4 has no buffer and kills the tone)

The buffer aspect of the circuit works I believe but there's little to 0 guitar signal getting to the tuner. Also when guitar is plugged directly to the buffer (gtr-buffer-amp) I have the same problem.

I noticed that Wacker at singlecoil.com changed the resistor values to 2M instead of 1M. Might that fix the problem? I'm not using switches, battery or LEDs with this circuit either. It needs to always be on (the tuner's always in the path/and on).

If I get a chance I'll post some pics of the build.

Thanks.
