interesting feedback loop

i was messing around with various types of feedback with a fuzzface-type circuit (would probably work fine on a typical FF) and found an interesting feedback loop.

the 1M pot should be around 4.5-5v on the transistor side for pretty interesting stuff, although it works on the whole rotation...
not really sure what is happening here, but it's pretty disgusting.

can anyone shed any light on what might be going on?

why is it that every time I log on here (admittedly I don't post as much as I ought to) someone else is dealing with the exact same thing that I'm currently looking at!?

I swapped out the feedback resistor in a FF type circuit on the breadboard last night for a 1M pot and found some interesting stuff... ;)

pretty similar i guess, but i'm feeding the output of the effect back into the input.
that npn ge is a 3rd transistor i'm using...  oh yeah, the circuit is an NPN FF.
