Hey, first of all I want to build this pedal, I heard it a few weeks ago and it sounds great so I want to build it on perf, using this schematic:

What I'd like to know is whether the 4.7m cap coming from Q3's source can be polarized, because I can't find a non-polarized one and if so in which way it should be placed.

Thanks,
Yaniv

I wanted to add a question, about ethics. I don't exactly know what type of company subdecay is but I  do know and appreciate that Brian Marshall decided to make the schematic public, so I was wondering whether it is considered ethical or not to make another one or two and sell (at more or less parts cost) to friends.

Yes, a polarized cap will work just fine

I think that's fine =], good luck with the pedals.

Hi,

the .047 cap can be polarized.  The negative side should go toward the output.

The first pot on the left should be B100k, which i forgot to mark.

The trick for this pedal is finding jfets that will work.  The fairchild 2n5458's from mouser have been working really well lately, and usually have enough gain that the positive feedback loop is not needed.
If you'd like to make one for your self, I have no problem with it.  If you make a couple for your friends that is ok as well.  I just don't want to see clones showing up on ebay using our name to market them.

Remember that one, kids.  It is about as clear (and pleasantly nonconfrontational!) a summary of what pedal-makers want as you are likely to find.  Kudos to Brian for being both generous in his information, and calm about it. :icon_biggrin:  I know he did not intend it as publicity, but it is that kind of publicly-stated honesty that often leads people to think "Hmm, decent person; I wonder what their pedals are like?"
