Hey,

I'm planning on building a spyder power supply with 6 outputs using 6 of the small individual 60ma transformers.

I was wondering what type of fuse I would need, and also where i could buy it... (does small bear carry it? or can i just get it at the shack or home depot or something?

thanks for your time =]

You need a time delay (slow-blow) fuse of some sort because the transformer primaries pull a surge current when turned on. The actual operating current is quite small, maybe 10ma of primary current per transformer. So use something like 100ma slow blow if you can find it.

Would the heat-sink-less regulators serve as 'fuses' ?
The transformer looks kinda beefy, I can't imagine a little regulator supply-ing current enough to damage the iron...of course I have an ever expanding imagination...every little bit of 'light' expands it.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The fuse is not to protect the secondaries. It's to keep the primary from starting a fire. The current limited regulators will limit the output current. But if the transformer itself develops an internal short, it can start burning and no secondary current limit will prevent it. Hence the primary-side fuse.

thanks for all the information!

It seems kinda hard to find a 100ma fuse though... i'd have to order it separately from all the otehr parts which would mean shipping would be kinda a pain...  Would it be totally unsafe to use a fuse of 0.5A?

Also, in your opinion what would be the best method of connecting the ground from the AC plug to the metal chassis?

thanks for all the help!
