In case anyone's interested, I just received an e-mail from Steve at Small Bear saying he'll have some FV-1 chips in stock soon. This is good news for anyone who's had any problems getting their hands on this chip.

uncle_benny!

Cool. I've been thinking about getting one.

If smallbear gets them in it will be so much easier.

thanks

Is there any word on the cost of the chip and dev board?

If you buy directly from the distributor the price for a single chip is very high, but for 25+ pcs it's OK. If Smallbear gets them I expect them to cost around $15 the piece but that's only my opinion.

smallbearelec

I just posted them. SKU 1923, $17.00.

The replacement for the mysterious encoder listed by Spinsemi and as seen on their demo PCBs  seems to be Grayhill's series 25L 4-bit binary Code Hexadecimal 16-position Digikey's part #GH3074-ND:

How I came to this conclusion? I compared the output table of the binary switch from the development board...

...with the output table of Grayhill's one. They matched. Pins on the demo PCB matched as well. First 8 positions of the encoder /clockwise/ should switch between internal programs, the rest 8 positions between external /RAM/ programs. Cheers!

So do you have to make your own FV-1 Development System or is someone selling them?

Anyone know?

Anyone have a mask image for the Dev board?
