I saw this pedal is gamous and liked here, So I maybe do one (it's a simple circuit, great for stripboard)

I'm looking for a good (like I said in the thread "good fuzz for stoner rock") and I've some questions about the transistors in the Jordan bosstone.

I've a 2n5088 (or bc109) and 2N3904, it's a good mix ? maybe the transistors have too many gain to this fuzz. It will be a hi-gain with this couple, non ?

What do you think about this idea ?

And to don't create a empty thread whith the sames questions about this fuzz, i poste a stripboard of this fuzz (I don"t find a similar in gallery, so I post it here)

You see mistakes ?

For the bosstone you want an NPN and a PNP transistor.
2n2222 and 2N3906 work great for me.

Higher gain transistors will work but it gets pretty out of control.
Maybe that's a good thing...depends.

oh sh** I thought 2n3904 was a PNP.

Hi
thanks for the layout.
I'm going to go back and make a few more of these with various transistors, etc.

QuoteHigher gain transistors will work but it gets pretty out of control.

That's right.  The overall gain is approximately the hFE of Q1 x 2.  The original Q1 would have had hFE of about 200 (for gain of 400), whereas many modern transistors are about double that (for gain of 800  :icon_eek:).  2N222As are an obvious low-HFE choice.  So are power devices such as TIPs and BD139s. (watch out for the strange pinouts)
