Hey all I have 8 sanyo 2sb22 germanuim transistors for a few fuzz pedals.I got  them on ebay and am wondering how one goes about finding which lead is what collector, emmiter or base? And also how do you find the hfe and such?

there should be a triangle or dot or circle on the side of the can denoting the collector. and it will most likely be C/B/E. you won't hurt it if by putting it in backwards so you can always use sockets and just try it. rylan

ok yea I wondered if the circle was part of it it has two little lines in it now what about the hfe ? I knew about the sockets and that I could just switch it around I just thought it would be usefull to know. thanks you much

Ohmmeter. For PNP, the positive negative ohmmeter lead conducts to the positive on both emitter and collector. The negative ohmmeter lead on the base doesn't conduct to either one. Test them like two diodes connected cathode to cathode.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
