Hi! A quick question, as I'm really in a conundrum?

Build - DOD Overdrive 250 from GGG site ( http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=102&Itemid=26 )

Schematic: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/dist_250_sc.gif

Bill of Materials: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/bom/dist_250_bm.txt

Parts Layout: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/dist_250_lo.gif

Question: C1 is supposed to be 10uF aluminum electrolytic. Can I use 10 uF tantalum in it's place? I have one that's marked as Philips (10 uF, 16V).

(Thank you very much in advance! This is a great forum and I prefer reading & learning to posting & asking questions, but I'm really unsure this time.)

Short answer is YES.  C1 is not part of the audio path.  It merely smooths out the bias voltage  A 100uf cap from the R12/R2 junction to ground would provide a little more hum-immunity if you are using a wallwart to power it.

Mark, do you mean add another cap to ground at that junction or just make C1 a 100uf cap?  C1 is not at the junction of R12 and R2.  Thanks.

Hi, you would add a cap to ground as pictured here in the Liquid Drive schematic from Fuzz Central http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/liquid.php

Here is how Phillip Bryant describes it's function "To add some extra nose rejection and polarity protection to the circuit, I've added a 100-ohm resistor in series with the power supply before the power makes it to the circuit, and then I added a 100µF Electrolytic and 0.1µF Cermaic capacitor in parallel with the power supply after the series resistor. These two added capacitors provide superior noise/hum rejection for the circuit."

I hope this is helpful

It is, thanks a lot!

Btw, so far my DOD looks like this (it's constantly changing):

Looks good. Ilike the Jake and Elwood sticker.

How about some sound clips?
