Has anyone built a wah using the GGG PCB?

I just ordered a wah PCB from GGG and I'm planning to build it next week. Has anyone else used this layout? Are you happy with the results?

For now, I'm going with the stock build, but I ordered some sockets to experiment with different resistors/capacitors/transistors. I'm using the whipple inductor, fwiw. What kind of  transistors have you tried?

the search funtion is your friend, there is a TON of wah info here.

my latest wah project is using one of those boards. There is nothing wrong with the boards.

I'm also a fan of the whipple. I personlly prefer bc108b transistors, but other people have other preferences.

I've tried the search function. I was specifically looking for info about the ggg board, so I didn't want to do a basic "wah" search and come up with 400 different wahs to mod a crybaby. Searches for "ggg wah" or "general guitar gadgets wah" only produce a few results, none of which are very significant. I may be a noob to this forum, but I know how to use a search.  :)

You also mentions experimenting with part values, and you asked for reccomendations on transistors. This is why I reccomended a search.

The boards at GGG (and not just the wah boards) have been used by countless people at this point, so they are known to work. I have built 3 projects on boards of theirs so far (tubescreamer, fuzz, and wah) and they are high quality boards.

I built a wah using the GGG board. Only problem with mine is it cant reach unity gain. I am working on adding an output buffer to it.

Exactopposite did you have any problems like this?

Great boards. GGg also has another board which has the mods for really tweaking it to your taste. This include a 6 way cap switch and many trim pots to play with. These mods can also be adpted to be done w the basic board as well.
Good luck- have fun!

No I haven't. It would seem to indicate that something is wrong with the circuit. I would bet that there is a resistor wrong somwhere. I'm guessing that could also happen with transistors that don't have enough gain.

FWIW, that GGG wah board is exactly the same as the board in my VOX V847.

I think a more valid question would be which transistors YOU used since you are having a problem. lol

I always use bc108b transistors for wahs. I have built or modded several wahs, and I have never experienced the problem you are having. I would check and double/triple check the resistors. Most likely there is a wrong part somewhere. It may even be a faulty part. I know it may seem like you have checked over everything several times without finding anything wrong. Sometimes the more you look at it the less likely you are to find the problem. The board is a known good layout, so as long as you used a known good schematic you know it will work if all the parts are correct. We all have problems with a build from time to time.
