Ooops I wired all the pots backwards...

And of course I insulated each lugs with heat shrink so it makes it twice harder to rewire... DOH!

Good news, the pedal (a very crunchy, 3 knobs box... er... *cough cough*) works 100% and sounds even better than what I remember the original! Used a TL072.

So the question... I just need to reverse lugs 1 and 3 and all should be alright, right?

Also... it only works with battery. The sound cuts as soon as I insert a power supply plug, but only when NOT in bypass... which is weird as I triple checked, my wiring is correct...

Ok figured out the battery/Power supply issue....

1) had the ring and sleeve reversed on the input
2) my 1spot wasn't plugged in  :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

jlullo

yes, just swap the first and third lugs, and you'll be good.

nice job using heat shrink- i haven't even been that neat yet!

Man, I did that three builds in a row. Thankfully they were all boost builds -- so only one knob'ers. :)

Can you switch the wires on the board end?  Probably easier/cleaner than dealing with the heat shrink'd pots.

Hi, my name is Ben and I'm a chronic back-ass-wards wiring master.  :icon_redface:

I'll double check everything and still manage to get one pot backwards.

And I'm not the only one, which makes me feel less bad about it.

pott

Glad to be of help Ben  :icon_lol: I too thought I had it right. Worse is I know how a pot works so I probably could have figured it out properly anyway... doh.

What pedal did yo build?
Need help with woodworking?  Just ask.

I think I gave enough hints no?  :icon_lol:

Ok ok it's a MI Audio Crunchbox. I had bought a new original one and a half years ago but had to sell it a year ago...

This one is smoother and way less bright. It does lack treble/presence :(

I used Bean's layout.

pott

Does anybody know how to increase the treble/presence content, to make it more like a stock Crunchbox? The pedal's way too dark as it is :(

Boogdish

I don't think I've completed any builds where I didn't do at least one pot backwards.  I've kept it like that a couple of times, makes me feel like the pedal is my secret weapon, I'm the only one who knows how to use it.

This thread makes me feel special.. :D

Never wired a pot backwards.
