squeaking small stone

i soldered a new 9v battery connector into my EH small stone and it worked alright for a little bit but then whenever something was plugged into the input it would make these crazy squeaking noises when it was on. any ideas?

 The gain of the circuit is > Unity ?
  Somewhere [GGG?] there's a read about a 10k resistor [don't know for sure yours needs the fix], and a transistor which causes the circuit to be either less than unity [slightly or a lot], or greater than unity which causes it to self oscillate/squeal.
