I am working on being a wah nerd myself.  Anyway, I 've never seen one like it- it looks more to me like a big electrolytic.  It's actually not that much bigger than one.  It is only using 2 pins on the bottom (that's all it has).

I just know it's gotta be some magic mojo worth thousands of dollars.   ;D  I bought the wah used off a guy on ebo for 9.99$ not including shipping.  It does wah, also!    Thanks again!

It has a layout a lot  like my 80's dunlop , I would say it was a replacement for a stack O dimes inductor. It looks like there are 2 extra holes on the edge of the PC for the original inductor. How would you describe the sound?

yeah, I tried to figure out when it was made before I bought it by looking up the serial #'s, but, nothing came up.  I'd say it sounds kinda crappy.  For one thing, the pot is real scratchy, and it's not true bypass, so it's tone sucking.  I'd describe it as real thin sounding.  I removed the rear bumb stomp, and re-adjusted the pot; it was so far back it bottomed out before it was all the way up.  It's still not even what I would call a decent wah.  I'd still like to know the history of the pot.  i found a good website (can't find it again) that showed the most common ones, but this one was not one of em.

Thanks some more!

Well you got it at a good price. I would suggest putting a whipple inductor in. Honestly I have not tried any other after market inductors but I can say l like that one.
If you have not bought come contact cleaner, it looks like now would be a good time. I had one bottle last me 8 years. Its a nice thing to have around.

That inductor is one from the 80's, coming just after the "03" Stack of Dimes inductor.

I had one in a Crybaby with a Serial Number around the CB070000's I think.  Mid to late 1980's.

Following that version, the 89-90 Rev D Crybaby changed the board and inductor to this one:

I don't remember it sounding too special, and in fact I liked it better with a lower Q resistor parallel to the inductor.

Yes, a Whipple and a new pot should do well for that wah.  It's got some 5117 Transistors which are good.
The only thing with that board is that it's not exactly Whipple friendly with the hole spacing.

thanks for the replies, all.  Yes, I did get it at a great price, my plans were to rip everything out and start from scratch, with a Whipple and new board.  So, for $19.00 I got a wah shell, and, my friend works at a machine shop and can sandblast it and re-powdercoat it.   ;D

thanks again for the replies!
