how hard do you think it would be to get a switch another pot and some more wires and fab something up where you flick the switch and instead of the treadle moving the pot back and forth, current get rerouted to another pot mounted on the side or something and can be set at a fixed position? then you could get Boston kind of sounds. (rocking roll band, long time, etc.) any one ever done this?

Wouldn't a 3PDT get you there?

There are 3 pot lugs, so wire what normally goes to the pot to the center lug of each row of the switch, then one side of the switch goes to one pot, one side to the other pot.

I'm talking out my head, but that should work.

Someone might have an easier route, though.

First, figure out the treadle position that gives you the sound you're looking for and measure the value on the pot. A 3PDT with a fixed resistor should do the trick for you. Wire the switch so that when the wah is engaged, the pot is taken out of the circuit, and the fixed resistor is connected in its place.

Since one leg of the pot is grounded, only the other two need to be swiched. So, a DPDT swich would be enough.

a good idea but  im thinking i might as well use a pot so it could be a treble booster as well

Hmmm, you may have lost me on what you're thinking of doing. Why not just use the existing pot and add an extra on-off switch? You can set the treadle to the tone you want, leave it and engage it when you need it with the extra switch.

If you want to use the wah circuit as a tone control, have you considered building a distortion-wha? You can then build in the capability to switch the wah circuit to come before or after the clipping stage.

well i was thinking use the same bypass/on switch because if it were located anywhere else it might be tough to stomp on onstage. i was just thinking of doing this while im trying to make my wah work and i have it open.
