I just got done assembling my Neovibe (still painting the box but I think everything works).

As I was testing it, I thought how nice it might be to have a power switch on the front to save bulb life when the unit isn't in use.  Its almost always going to be plugged into my board... what say you guys?

Could be OK. If you do this, you can just short the driver transistor base to ground, like the original's "cancel" switch did.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Could I use the pads on the board for this?

If so, how would you wire a spdt on-off-on switch?  I was thinking one side would be for normal use,  the other side would short to ground... i'm guessing there's no real way to use the middle off position.......

what about using a 3pdt?  Use two sets of poles for signal like a typical 2pdt and ground the driver with the other set. Would you have weirdness at startup?

You wouldn't have as deep of a vibe right when you hit the switch to turn it on. It takes a while (maybe just milliseconds) to get full intensity, but I know I wouldn't want mine that way.
