Yo

I'm planning on making a little practice amp with elements of the Little gem and or Ruby. I want to put a rangemaster circuit in there too and was wondering since the amp part of the circuit already has a 100uf cap from power to ground is it really necessary to include the rangemaster's 47uf cap from power to ground? Also what about using a power filtering cap in a Ranegmaster? if you threw a 100uf in there would you still need the 47uf?

One power supply "filter" capacitor is enough for both the rangemaster circuit and the practice amp circuit part.

They can help eliminate line ripple, ie long wire with filter cap right next to the 'consumer' at the end of the supply line.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
