You can build a valve caster instead.  It will give you that same "tubishness" (I say tubish rather than tubey becasue low-voltage tubes don't really give you that "tube" sound) as the marshall, but it's verified, and there's a ton of info on it here.  I remember someone mentioning building this a while back and having 60 cycle hum issues.
