G Day

Here s my prob

General Guitar Gadgets Big muff Triangle

15 caps  and 27 resistors

BYOC Large beaver

12 Caps and 23 Resistors

Gaussmarkov diy fx

13 caps and 23 resistors

All are ment to be triangle versions of the big muff but each has more or less resistors or caps , is this because there tweaked versions .
Im after a pcb and layout that is close to the original anyone have any input or can point me in the correct direction

Ive built the boost pedal moved on to the fuzz and think its time to do myself a ramshead and triangle version so any and all input will be a big help

Thanx for your time

The notes on the GGG schematic basically explain any differences between the 3 versions you've posted.
If you ignore R26,C14 and C15 then the differences are probably just due to whether that particular version includes R9, R7 and C2 or any combination of those. With Big Muffs there isn't always 1 definitive version of each type Electro-Harmonix basically just put them together with what ever they had at the time. I'd just build the GGG version and then experiment with C2 and R9 and see which you prefer. I wouldn't bother with changing R7, replacing that with a jumper just means if you turn the sustain all the way down you get silence, it doesn't alter the sound of the pedal at all.

Sometimes the more experienced (*cough*) builders add some useful features to old circuits:
- power supply filtering (100 Ohm in series from 9V battery clip to positive supply of effect and 100uF cap over power supply of effect, see FAQ)
- pull-down resistors at output and input of the effect (usually 1MOhm) to avoid pops when switching. (again see FAQ)
This can make a difference in the parts count...
Both additions are highly recommended BTW.

I recently built the triangle version from tonepad.com (check under "amp projects", not "FX projects").
Works great (I did add a power supply filter since it is used with a 9V wallwart mostly), layout is tight though if you should want to do any mods.

There are lots of threads on Big Muff versions to be found using the search function.
In the end the differences mostly end up to be a matter of taste, so you probably find your definitive version by tweaking.
