TS5 on/off switching issue

I have one of those black plastic tube screamers and the on/off switch is intermittant. I have tried several new PCB mount momentary switches in place of the stock one, so thats not it. I'm thinking it must be the transistor that does the switching, but the problem is that the schematic i have doesn't show the switching circuit. Any insight on this issue? Thanks.

IIRC there is a cap in the one shot section you can increase.  Search for the problem here I believe there was a good thread some time ago about this.

I think with soundtank pedals the switching issues are more mechanical than electric. You'd be best off to rehouse it or build a new one.

Well, i was preparing to re-house it actually. But till i can figure this out i'm holding off. It's not mechanical i don't think because i have even gone so far as to solder wires to the switch traces so i could solidly touch the wires together to be 100% sure it's not a switch issue and still it's intermittent. And that was overkill because as i said i already replaced the switch a couple times which didn't help. Gotta be another component in the switching circuit, tho without a schematic that shows it i'm lost.

I'll try and find that, thanks.

EDIT: did a search and found some things about other ibanez models with the same issue. But the one problem still exists....no schematic with the switching circuit. I read about the cap and other components, but it does me little good w/o a schematic to identify whats what.

Ahhh....found a schematic with the switching ! Hand drawn, but thats ok. If anyone is interested it's here...

C3 in that linked schematic. What is the value or numbers on the cap in your ts5?

oczad

I don't know yet, but thats what i was thinking too. Or maybe C1. In any case, i'm in no rush so i may not et around to it anytime real soon. But i'll certainly try replacing those and then with different values if fresh caps of the same value don't work.

Thanks all. It turns out a 470uf in place of the 100uf for C3 worked. C1 is a .001 disc and raising that didn't help, but the C3 swap sure did. Switches like a charm now. Thanks for the help. :icon_mrgreen:
