Pull down resistor on "output" lug

I've seen a few people place their pull down resistors at the end of the circuit. Between the output of the circuit and the output jack, schematically speaking. Could one hang a 1M or higher resistor from lug 2 of the volume pot to lug 1 grounded and achieve a pull down resistor?

Thanks!

A pull down resistor goes from the output to ground. Its there to bleed the current from the output (or input) cap so you don't get the pop noise. If you have a volume control on the output of a circuit and lug 1 is grounded the resistance across lug 3 and lug one is a pull down resistor. You don't need an additional pulldown resistor in that case.

- exactly, volume pot works like a pulldown here.
- also, don't be shy to use 2M2 for pulldown res, it works fine and: bigger value  - less signal bleeding.
