I'm currently inventing a couple of projects, and I always find the hardest part to be choosing what type of capacitor to use. My own conclusion is to settle on one type of capacitor (ie Electrolytic) and then just use the same type and brand for all capacitors on the board.

What are your thoughts about this? Would it work? If you only had to settle for one type, what would it be, and why?

Also, in trying to build a Klon Centaur clone, I'd like to use as good capacitors as possible. The problem is that when I find very high quality capacitors, they're always too big (500v and upwards, drastically increasing the size of the capacitor, making it difficult to fit in a standard enclosure). Where can I find very high quality capacitors under lets say 100v? What should I look for?

How are you determining what is "high quality"?

Does high quality=good tone?

Do you mean like, 'poly film vs mica vs ceramic', or do you mean 'panasonic vs vishay vs AVX'?
