expression pedal converted to footswitches...help (boss rt-20)

hey yall.

Im guessing this can be done... Im thinking about buying a boss RT-20 becuase it fits my budget, decent sounding, etc. But I really wanted something that had a remote fast/slow switch jack. (NOT expression pedal!)

So i was thinking, since the RT-20 has an expression pedal jack...couldnt I build a little box that had a footswitch that selected between two internal trimpots which would be used in place of the expression pedal....and then maybe with a toggle switch that let me switch to an actual expression pedal that would be wired to that little "box"?

Any help with wiring this would be great!
