Anyone have tips on modding in an effects loop into the MXR Carbon Copy so I can send the repeats through some other fx (phase, octave, EQ, etc)? I know this is simple enough with the DD-3...

Yes, I know the Carbon Copy is SMD... but I'm not afraid!

Given its size, I suspect you'd want to use mini phone jacks for that purpose.
Typically, the insertion point would be between the output of the delay chip (and accompanying filter stages) and the input to the mixing stage.  How the hell you'd identify it on an SMD board, I leave up to you.

Got some great info today on this!!!

1) Lift the wiper of the Regeneration pot (VR2) and bring it to the 'Send' (tip) of the T.R.S. jack (put a series 1K resistor between the wiper and the T.R.S. jack 'Send' connection for short-circuit protection)

2) Connect the 'Return' of the T.R.S. jack (ring) to the Regeneration pot's PCB wiper pad (which should be free or opened from the previous step)

3) Make sure that the T.R.S. jack 'Tip' short connects to the T.R.S. 'Ring', so that the T.R.S. jack passes the regeneration signal as normal when this new loop is not used.

There will be no signal present through the newly created loop when the Carbon Copy is in bypass, as the Carbon Copy is a 'True Bypass' device and no signal is connected to the Carbon Copy circuit when in bypass mode.

I guess Sleeve goes to ground?

Now... to find room in this thing for a jack! Hahaha...
