I found this layout for the BSIAB2 http://aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/Xaviers-shrine-of-noise/Layouts/BSIAB+2.gif.html . In the components listing it calls for 5 2N5457 transistors but on the General Guitar Gadgets website it calls for a couple J201's for transistors Q3 and Q4. Any thoughts on this substitution?

Also, the more I look at this layout, I'm seeing some component reference designator discrepancies with the original from the GG website. Has anyone verified this layout?

Thanks!

Replacing the two J201s with 2 2N5457s is a common mod for the BSIAB2 that is said to reduce the overall gain.  I have built mine (from the GGG layout) with all the transistors socketed, and tried various combinations of J201s and 2N5457s.  I like the sound with all 2N5457s.

I guess it's not too surprising that the reference designators are different from the GGG layout, as these are generally assigned a default ref number by the layout software.  If one draws a new layout from scratch, it would take extra effort to manually rename the components from their assigned defaults to match those in someone else's pre-existing layout.

Can't comment on this particular layout.
