3 knob Bender Q

has anyone ever replaced the 3.3K resistor on Q2 with a pot like a typical Fuzz Face or MKII bender to adjust the fuzz intensity.
I was building one of these for the heck of it and thought it might make a better fuzz control than the 100k pot on the base.
