Hi,

I built a neovibe a little while ago with a DC power supply and now I'm looking to make a second for a friend.  The last one I just built the board as if it was getting an AC supply, with the diode bridge and the 2 1000uf caps in.   When i build this one, I know I can leave the diode bridge off, but are caps 24/25 (1000uf) both ok to leave out as well?  I'm assuming they're there for ripple smoothing.

What I was going to do was simply connected the postive from the DC straight to the 7815 voltage regulator - is this the way to go?

Thanks
tim

They are indeed there for power ripple smoothing. However, unless your DC power supply is of high quality, it might make sense to put some kind of cap in one of those positions for making sure there is a local supply of low impedance power for the board. I personally would put in 100uF to 470uF.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
