I was looking at the schematic for this and was thinking, put a footswitchable cathode bypass cap on the first stage for a gain boost.
What do yall think?

Well, it might do some thing.
The easyest way to know is to test your theory

but with the depth pot at max the sound get too choppy and hush if  heavy distorted.
