I found some of these at the electronics store by me... appear NOS.  They are marked $4.99 ea, if anyone wants me to pick some up for them let me know i'll do so for only the tube price, tax, and shipping.  I'm not sure about the number of tubes in the box but i could probably take orders for the first 10 or 15 and then go back and do a definite count.  They have a tube tester there, so i will test them before buying, if the tester allows (they have a strange pin arrangement on the bottom.  They are about the size of a 12ax7 and this is what they look like... PM if interested.  I'd prefer to do via money order since my paypal isn't connected to my bank account and it takes them 2 weeks to cut me a check.

Ithink I've seen schematics to turn these into clocks... very coldwar doomsday type clocks.

Ah, nixies......(drifts off into nostalgic reverie.....)

The adding machines we used in undergrad had nixies in 'em, and I always liked the 3D effect you got from large numbers where the filament for larger digits would be further back than those for smaller digits.  The Hunter timers I used for my masters work also had nixie-like tubes in them.

Of course these days a 50-cent 3-digit 7-segment LED replaces a big chunk of glass real-estate.

I recall an article in a volume of Nuts and Volts I was reading a while back with a project to make a Nixie tubes clock. If anyone gets these tubes and wants the project, let me know and I'll scan the project pages.
To those about to rock, we salute you.

But that would reduce the mojo, you madman!
