Series and Parallel Mixing options

Hello all,

OK so this might seem like a roundabout way of doing things, but it is the only way I can come up unless someone already has this design:

I want to be able to add a certain Effect in Series or Mixed in Parallel. This is how I was planning on doing it:

Signal - Splitter   1) To Effect
                         2) To Parallel Mixer input 1, no volume pot

From Effect, Signal is split again  1)To mixer input  w/ volume pot for mix amount
                                                2) To SPDT Switch

the Switch selects between: The effect's output signal (series), or the Mixer's output signal (parallel)

Am I making this too complicated?

That seems like a reasonable way to do it, or you could put the volume control on the dry signal, take the output from the mixer out and just switch the dry signal on and off....
