This may have been done and I missed it, but it is based on Jack's diode warp idea here:  http://www.muzique.com/lab/warp.htm

The plan is to add LEDs in parallel with a 20 to 25k pot with Ge diodes (you may want to use 2 pair to balance it out better)  on one side and Si on the other.

A Ge diode plus est. 8k resistance equals the same clipping threshold as an LED around 1.7v.  An SI plus est. 4k equals the same.  At the middle of the pot's travel the lowest clipping threshold is thru the LEDs.  In the middle, there should be a slight volume drop and distortions increase, plus the LED's should light up.

So you get 3 different clippers with one pot.  Ge on one side, Ge plus resistance as the pot rotates, LED around the middle, Si plus resistance, then Si.  A log pot may work better, but I can't figure out which way it would be wired.

I have done this with single diodes, but not sets.  It should work and could be used either in the feedback loop or to ground.

That is a cool idea.  So you have tried it and it works?

On my Rat, I have a 10k pot that pans between a Ge and LED for asymmetrical clipping with the other diode which is an SI.  It works fine, but I would suggest trying it before going to the pedal with it. 

Different diode combinations should work as long as the threshold + resistance is higher than 1.7v or the LED won't come on in the middle of the pot travel. 

You may discover that the clippers don't make as much difference as the threshold.   :icon_cool:  :icon_rolleyes:  :icon_twisted:
