disadvantages of an offboard tonestack???

sometimes i find it easier to wire tonestack components [usually the 3band marshall configuration] directly on the pins of the off-board potentiometers.
am i facing a some sort of disadvantage with this design?

Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

Good practice actually. Cut down on signal wire means less noise.

This is key in amps. I always minimize my grid wire by mounting the tonestack right on the pots.

no oscillation? especially in high gain circuits?

  It's easier to find that one darn cap when it's right there...working on it is roomy too. I look for ways to put the stuff I might want to change..right there where it's easy to get to.
